This 5-day "Tanzania Classic Safari" is a comprehensive and popular package that provides an in-depth exploration of the country's most iconic Northern Safari Circuit parks. The itinerary is meticulously designed to offer a full and rewarding safari experience, covering the vast elephant herds of Tarangire, the legendary predators and endless plains of the Serengeti, and the unparalleled wildlife density of the Ngorongoro Crater. • Tarangire National Park: Witness the famous massive elephant herds and the unique baobab-studded landscape.
  • Serengeti National Park: Experience the "endless plains," home to the Great Migration (seasonal) and an exceptionally high density of predators.
  • Ngorongoro Crater: Descend into the world's largest intact volcanic caldera for an unparalleled game-viewing experience.
  • The "Big Five": A high probability of seeing the "Big Five" (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino) across the parks.
  • Diverse Ecosystems: The itinerary offers a variety of landscapes, from Tarangire's swamps to the open savannas of the Serengeti and the crater's unique ecosystem.
  • Cultural Immersion (Optional): Opportunities for optional visits to a Maasai village.
  • Hot Air Balloon Safari (Optional): The chance to add a hot air balloon safari over the Serengeti for a breathtaking, once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Other Important Tour Information

  • Best Time to Travel: The dry season (June to October) is considered the best for wildlife viewing as animals congregate around water sources. However, the green season (March to May) offers lush landscapes, fewer crowds, and is excellent for birdwatching. The Great Migration is a key factor for the Serengeti and its location changes throughout the year.
  • Physical Fitness: This safari is not physically demanding. It is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. The majority of the time is spent in the safari vehicle, with some light walking during lodge check-ins or cultural visits.
  • Starting and Ending Point: All tours typically start and end in Arusha, which is the gateway city for all Northern Tanzania safaris.
  • Safari Vehicle: Transportation is provided in a customized 4x4 safari vehicle with a pop-up roof. This ensures an excellent vantage point for photography and game viewing and is equipped with a cooler box for drinks.
  • Safety: All guides are highly experienced and trained in first aid. It is mandatory for travelers to have comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical and emergency evacuation.
  • Visas: Travelers are responsible for obtaining their own tourist visas for Tanzania. This can often be done upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). It's best to check the latest visa requirements for your nationality before travel.
  • Tipping: Tipping is a customary practice in the Tanzanian tourism industry. While not mandatory, it is a way to show appreciation for excellent service. A general guideline is to tip the safari guide and lodge staff at the end of the trip.

Our safari packages typically include park entry fees, full-board accommodation, professional English-speaking guides, game drives in 4×4 safari vehicles, and bottled drinking water. International flights, visas, travel insurance, and personal expenses are not included.

When is the best time to go on a Tanzania safari?

The dry season (June–October) offers the best wildlife viewing, while the green season (November–March) is perfect for birding and witnessing the Serengeti wildebeest calving season. With Tanzania Footprints Adventures, every season has its own unique highlights.

How many days do you recommend for a safari?

Most guests enjoy 5–7 days, which allows time to explore the Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and Tarangire. Shorter safaris (3–4 days) are great for quick getaways, while longer trips (8–12 days) cover more parks at a relaxed pace.

What type of accommodation do you offer?

We work with a wide range of options—from budget camping safaris to mid-range lodges and luxury tented camps. Tanzania Footprints Adventures tailors accommodation to match your budget and style.

Are your safaris safe?

Yes. Safety is our top priority. Our experienced guides are trained to handle wildlife encounters and ensure your comfort throughout the journey. Camps and lodges also provide 24-hour security.

What should I pack for my safari?

We recommend lightweight neutral-colored clothes, a warm jacket for evenings, sturdy walking shoes, sunscreen, insect repellent, binoculars, and a good camera. A detailed packing list will be shared once you book with us.

Will I see the Big Five on safari?

Tanzania is one of the best places in Africa to spot the Big Five. Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater offer excellent chances of seeing lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, and even the rare black rhino.

Can my safari be customized?

Absolutely. At Tanzania Footprints Adventures, we design tailor-made itineraries to match your preferences—whether that’s more time in Serengeti, cultural visits with local tribes, hot-air balloon safaris, or adding a beach holiday in Zanzibar.

Can I combine my safari with other adventures?

Yes. Many guests combine their safari with Kilimanjaro trekking or a relaxing beach extension in Zanzibar. We also arrange cross-border trips to Kenya and Rwanda for gorilla trekking.
