Itinerary (Full Day)

  • Morning (07:00 AM – Pick-up from Moshi/Arusha)
    Depart early from your hotel and drive to Marangu Gate (1,860m), the starting point of the Marangu Route. Register with park authorities and meet your mountain guide.

  • Mid-Morning (09:00 AM – Begin Hike)
    Start your trek through dense rainforest, home to blue monkeys, colobus monkeys, and exotic birds. The trail is well-maintained and gently ascends.

  • Late Morning (12:30 PM – Arrive at Mandara Hut, 2,700m)
    Reach Mandara Hut, a popular stop for climbers on the Marangu Route. Here you can rest, enjoy your packed lunch, and explore the nearby Maundi Crater, which offers stunning views of the crater rim and, on clear days, glimpses of Kibo peak.

  • Afternoon (01:30 PM – Begin Descent)
    After lunch and exploration, descend back down through the rainforest to Marangu Gate.

  • Evening (04:00–05:00 PM – Return)
    Arrive back at Marangu Gate, receive your day hike certificate (if available), and drive back to Moshi/Arusha, arriving in the evening.
